Lucas Wissmann, Founder & CEO, brings more than two decades of experience at the intersection of advanced technology and global impact. He has a knack for commercialization and leading teams to successful outcomes. After an early career with major systems integrators in aerospace and defense, where he led billion-dollar proposal efforts and delivered complex programs for the U.S. Department of Defense, Lucas is now driven to extend the runway for sensitive species and habitats.
Lucas started in robotics by leading the commercialization novel over-the-horizon control technologies for space and subsea robotic manipulators. He then went on to co-found a subsea robotics company that pioneered a semi-autonomous unmanned system for offshore energy subsea inspection and intervention.
Lucas founded Silent Returns to channel this unique blend of large-scale program execution and entrepreneurial agility into biodiversity protection. His vision is clear: build the next layer of sensing infrastructure—powered by robotics and AI—that helps humanity sense, protect, and steward the living world at planetary scale.
